iPhone dimensions and weight: a complete table of every model
The smallest current iPhone is the iPhone SE 3rd generation (138.4 × 67.3 × 7.3 mm, 144 g, 4.7" display). The smallest of the modern range without a Home button is the iPhone 13 mini (131.5 × 64.2 × 7.65 mm, 141 g, 5.4"). The standard size is held by the iPhone 14/15/16 line at around 147 × 71.5 × 7.8 mm and 170–172 g with a 6.1" display. The largest and heaviest are the Pro Max models — over 160 mm tall and 221–240 g with a 6.7" to 6.9" display. The difference between a 6.1" and a 6.7" model is mainly weight in practice: the Pro Max is roughly 50–70 g heavier and can't be used one-handed. Ceramic Shield and titanium frames on Pro models from the 15th generation onward reduced weight by around 19 g compared with steel.

How to choose by dimensions
- You want a phone for a small pocket: iPhone 13 mini or iPhone SE. Both fit into a jeans pocket and can be operated with a thumb without needing to readjust your grip.
- You're looking for a sensible compromise: The 6.1" line (iPhone 13 to 16). At 147 mm tall and around 170 g, this is the most common size, for which you can buy the widest choice of cases and screen protectors.
- You want a big display for video and reading: Plus models have a 6.7" display while weighing around 200 g — that's 20 to 40 g less than the Pro Max with the same diagonal.
- You want the maximum, regardless of weight: Pro Max. Bear in mind that 227 to 240 g is noticeable in a pocket or after an hour of holding it in your hand.
- Choosing a case: Cases aren't interchangeable across generations even when the dimensions are similar — the position and size of the camera module differs. Always choose a case made specifically for your model.
Why thickness and weight change between generations
An iPhone's weight is mainly determined by the frame material and battery size. Stainless steel on the 11 Pro through 14 Pro models looks luxurious but is heavy — which is why the iPhone 14 Pro Max weighs 240 g. Titanium on the iPhone 15 Pro brought the weight down to 221 g at the same diagonal.
Thickness, on the other hand, has crept up slightly in recent generations because Apple fits a larger battery into the body. You won't notice the 8.25 versus 7.8 mm difference in your hand, but you will in battery life.
The screen diagonal on Pro models moved from 6.1" to 6.3", and on Pro Max from 6.7" to 6.9", by narrowing the bezels rather than dramatically enlarging the body — the iPhone 16 Pro is only 2 mm longer than the 15 Pro.
Frequently asked questions about size
- Which iPhone is the lightest?: Among models still commonly sold today, the lightest is the iPhone 12 mini at 135 g. Next is the iPhone 13 mini at 141 g, and the iPhone SE 3rd generation at 144 g.
- Does the Pro Max fit in a trouser pocket?: It fits, but at 163 mm tall it sticks out and presses against you when sitting. If you carry your phone in a front pocket, a 6.1" model is more practical.
- Is the difference between 6.1" and 6.3" noticeable?: Only slightly on the display, and practically not at all in the body — it's a 2 mm difference in height. The jump to 6.7" and 6.9" is more noticeable.
- Does size affect battery life?: Yes, significantly. A larger body fits a larger battery, so Pro Max models last the longest. On pre-owned units, we guarantee battery health of 86–100%.
